It is with much sadness that we let you know that AFS Founder and wonderful mother Janice Stiefel has passed from this life. As many of you know, she was diagnosed with dementia 10 years ago. This was a tremendously difficult disease for her to live with and family to witness. While we are very sad she is no longer with us, we are relieved to know she will not suffer any more and is finally at peace.

We will be holding a memorial service for Janice on July 29th from 2pm to 4pm at LaMadeleine located at 11200 Broadway St. Suite 1600 Pearland, TX  77584.  

In lieu of flowers, we are asking that anyone who is able to make donations go to http://act.alz.org/goto/MelanieB to help fight this terrible disease.  Melanie Barker, close friend and family member has launched a campaign to raise a goal of $10,000 for the National Alzheimer Association.  Please click the link above to help us fight Alzheimer and Dementia.

Alvin Farrier Supply was established October 28th, 1992 by Tom and Janice Stiefel of Alvin, Texas. Tom, a Farrier of 30 years, developed the company after he was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and could no longer actively shoe horses. He was joined by his wife, Janice, who retired from IBM at the Johnson Space Center after 30 years.

The company has grown steadily through the years in both walk-in, ship-out and internet customers. Due to this growth, the product base and buying power has allowed us to keep prices competitive.

In the fall of 1998, the building was enlarged for the third time and our daughter, Joy Smith, joined the company to keep up with the demands of the business. In October of 1999, we opened our second location in Tomball, Texas, only 13 miles from the Sam Houston Race park. Our youngest daughter Tonia operates this location.
